About Puri's Point
Puri's Point is a fun, punchy reef break on the Lombok coast that serves up consistent walls and playful sections for intermediate surfers. The wave offers both lefts and rights, giving riders plenty of opportunity to work on turns and build confidence on a live reef. It rarely gets dangerously large, making it a great step-up spot for those transitioning from mellow beach breaks. A relaxed vibe and reliable swell make it a favourite among surfers staying in the area.
Local knowledge
The reef is live coral — shallow at low tide, so wipeouts can result in nasty cuts and scrapes; booties are worth considering for less experienced riders. Watch for sneaky rip currents that run along the reef edge on bigger swells, and sea urchins are scattered across the shallower sections near the entry zone. Boat and jukung traffic can be a factor on busy days, so keep your head up when paddling out.
Park at the nearest warung along the coastal road and follow the short rocky track down to the beach. Entry is best made by timing your paddle-out through the channel on the right side of the break — avoid scrambling directly over the reef. Exit the same way via the channel; do not try to wade in over the dry reef on low tide.
A versatile shortboard (6'0"–6'4") or a mid-length will handle the majority of conditions here, giving you the manoeuvrability to take advantage of the punchy walls. On smaller, mushier days a fish or hybrid will help you generate speed through the weaker sections; bring a step-up if a solid swell is forecast.
mellow — relaxed vibe.

Surfing in Lombok
Full Lombok surf guide →Lombok sits just east of Bali, separated by the deep Lombok Strait, and remains one of the most rewarding surf destinations in the Indonesian archipelago. It carries the spirit of an older Bali — quiet villages, jungle-clad hills, the towering Mount Rinjani volcano to the north, and a string of perfect bays and headlands along the south coast. The surf scene here is laid-back and adventure-driven rather than polished and packaged.
✈️Getting there
Fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), near Praya in the centre-south of the island — a short 30–45 minute drive from Kuta Lombok and the main surf zone. There are frequent domestic connections from Jakarta, Surabaya and especially Bali (Denpasar), plus some regional international links.
🛵Getting around
A scooter is the default way to explore Lombok's surf coast — cheap to rent in Kuta and ideal for the dirt tracks leading to Mawi, Are Guling and the quieter bays. Bring board racks or a strap, and ride cautiously: roads range from smooth tarmac to potholed dirt, and rural traffic can be unpredictable.
🌤️Climate & season
Lombok has a tropical climate with two clear seasons. The dry season (roughly April–October) is prime time: cleaner conditions, lighter or offshore mornings, and the most consistent south-coast groundswell. This is when nearly every spot — Mawi, Gerupuk, Seger, Are Guling and Desert Point — fires.
