The Mandalika International Circuit is a racetrack located in Kuta, Lombok Island, province of Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia: it has Grade 1 homologation from the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), allowing it to host events for the MotoGP World Championship and the Superbike World Championship. (It is rumored that it could host Formula 1 races in 2024)
The circuit consists of 4310 meters distributed over 17 corners, 6 left and 11 right, with a single straight, which is the main straight measuring 507 meters.
The Mandalika International Street Circuit in Indonesia was designed to meet the standards of MotoGP and Superbikes. The project received a boost in late 2018 when Dorna's head, Carmelo Ezpeleta, visited Mandalika to meet with project sponsors.
Indonesia had been pushing for a MotoGP race for some time, with the initial plan to upgrade the Sentul International Circuit before plans emerged to build a new circuit designed by Hermann Tilke. Located in Palembang, South Sumatra, this would have benefited from the infrastructure linked to the 2018 Asian Games, but those plans were later canceled.
Instead, it was the Mandalika resort complex that was favored, and on February 23, 2019, it was announced that Mandalika would host not only MotoGP but also the Superbike World Championship starting in 2021 under a five-year contract. MRK1 Consulting, along with RoadGrip Motorsport, was appointed by the Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (IDTC) to plan, implement, and construct the new circuit. Groundbreaking began in October 2019, with the development of foundations and underground utility systems, as well as roads by IDTC, before the Vinci Group joined to complete the racetrack and associated facilities.

In April 2021, it was announced that the layout and surface of the racetrack had been completed, but the surrounding infrastructure was not finished. Representatives from Dorna and FIM inspected the track but did not secure any competition dates; the superbike world round could still take place later in the year, depending on travel quarantine requirements. It was assured that the Indonesian Motorcycle Grand Prix would take place in 2022 as one of the early dates of the season.
On September 25, 2021, FIM confirmed the holding of the Indonesia round of Superbikes: due to logistical and organizational issues, the date was moved from the original November 12 to November 14, taking place a week later, during the weekend of November 19 to 21.
This will mark Indonesia's return to the Superbike World Championship after 24 years, as the Sentul International Circuit hosted the Indonesian round of the championship between the 1994 and 1997 seasons.
From March 18 to 20, the first MotoGP race will officially take place at the Mandalika circuit in Lombok.
