About Selong Belanak
Selong Belanak est une plage large et courbée située à environ 30 minutes à l'ouest de Kuta Lombok, célèbre pour son sable blanc doux, ses montagnes environnantes et ses vagues parfaites pour apprendre à surfer. C'est l'un des spots les plus recommandés pour les cours de surf, avec une atmosphère détendue et sécurisée et beaucoup d'infrastructures locales. Contrairement aux reef breaks de Lombok, ici les vagues se brisent sur un fond sablonneux de manière progressive, rendant le take-off fluide et facile à contrôler. C'est aussi un excellent endroit pour les longboarders et les surfers qui souhaitent simplement se laisser porter et profiter sans pression.
Local knowledge
Étant une plage break avec un fond sablonneux, Selong Belanak est aussi indulgente que Lombok peut l'être, mais le plus grand danger ici est la foule — des dizaines de débutants des écoles de surf sur des planches soft-top, des vagues poussées et des planches échappées rendent l'intérieur de la zone de surf un véritable lieu de collision, alors gardez les yeux ouverts. Des courants de retour se forment le long de la baie, surtout vers les coins de la tête de la baie et après quelques jours de swell, et ils peuvent rapidement entraîner un débutant fatigué ; le shorebreak peut également devenir puissant et chaotique lors des marées hautes les jours de plus grosse houle.
Accès facile — conduisez environ 30 minutes à l'ouest de Kuta Lombok sur une route maintenant correcte et garez-vous au parking en bord de mer (petit frais) ; de nombreux warungs et cabanes de location de surf bordent le sable. Il suffit de marcher directement depuis la plage et de pagayer à travers les canaux entre les pics — pas de reef, pas de rochers, juste une entrée sablonneuse et doucement inclinée. La zone de take-off douce se trouve au milieu de la baie, avec des pics plus propres et moins fréquentés si vous marchez vers l'une ou l'autre extrémité.
C'est le paradis des longboards et des mini-mals — apportez une planche ou une mousse lors des typiques petites journées douces pour profiter des longues et douces vagues. Quand un peu plus de swell arrive, un fish ou un funboard vous permettra de trouver les sections plus raides et d'échapper aux foules des écoles.

✈️Getting there
Fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), near Praya in the centre-south of the island — a short 30–45 minute drive from Kuta Lombok and the main surf zone. There are frequent domestic connections from Jakarta, Surabaya and especially Bali (Denpasar), plus some regional international links.
🛵Getting around
A scooter is the default way to explore Lombok's surf coast — cheap to rent in Kuta and ideal for the dirt tracks leading to Mawi, Are Guling and the quieter bays. Bring board racks or a strap, and ride cautiously: roads range from smooth tarmac to potholed dirt, and rural traffic can be unpredictable.
