Canggu é um dos epicentros do surf moderno em Bali, famoso não apenas por suas ondas, mas também por seu estilo de vida vibrante, cafés, espaços de coworking e comunidade internacional. Localizado ao norte de Seminyak, Canggu possui vários pontos ao longo do mesmo trecho de costa: Batu Bolong, Old Man's, Echo Beach e Pererenan, cada um com características distintas que atendem a todos os níveis. Canggu é ideal tanto para iniciantes que desejam aprender em uma onda amigável quanto para surfistas intermediários e avançados que buscam paredes mais poderosas e manobráveis ou até seções tubulares em dias grandes. Local knowledge
O recife aqui é principalmente de rocha vulcânica plana e coral esparso, em vez de coral afiado, mas fica raso e pegajoso na maré baixa, especialmente em Echo Beach, onde a zona de decolagem seca rapidamente — fácil de bater uma quilha ou se arranhar. O maior perigo é a multidão: esse trecho concentra iniciantes, grupos de escolas de surf e turistas sem consciência, então pranchas soltas, ondas em que alguém entra sem aviso e colisões são o verdadeiro risco. Correntes laterais fortes podem te arrastar pela praia em dias maiores, e há tráfego regular de barcos e SUP na parte interna.
Acesso fácil por estrada — estacione sua scooter em qualquer um dos warungs ao longo de Batu Bolong, Old Man's, Echo Beach ou Pererenan e caminhe diretamente até a areia. Remada para fora da praia; em Batu Bolong e Old Man's é uma remada tranquila, enquanto em Echo Beach é melhor entrar pelas pedras em uma maré mais alta para evitar o recife raso na saída. Há muitos cafés, aluguel de pranchas e bares de praia logo atrás do lineup se você precisar de algo.
Uma prancha shortboard regular funciona bem em dias intermediários a maiores, mas nas típicas sessões pequenas a suaves de Canggu, uma fish, mid-length ou groveler vai te proporcionar muito mais ondas. Longboards se sentem em casa em Batu Bolong e Old Man's — apenas mantenha o controle na multidão.

It packs an absurd density of quality breaks into a small island: machine-perfect reef barrels on the Bukit Peninsula, mellow beach breaks on the west coast, and a Bali Sea wave or two over on the east.
✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
