About Burgerworld
Burgerworld est une droite longue, douce et maniable située au nord des Mentawai, près de la zone connue sous le nom de Playgrounds, au large de la côte de Siberut. Contrairement à de nombreuses vagues lourdes et tubulaires de l'archipel, Burgerworld offre une alternative plus détendue et amusante, parfaite pour le flow et la pratique des manœuvres. Elle est connue pour fonctionner particulièrement bien lorsqu'il y a peu de swell ou lorsque les conditions ne sont pas si parfaites sur les spots tubulaires, ce qui en fait un sauveur lors des jours difficiles ou une vague parfaite pour le surf de transition.
Local knowledge
Le récif ici est plus clément que les vagues lourdes de la zone des Playgrounds, mais c'est toujours du corail vivant qui devient peu profond à l'intérieur lors des marées basses, donc attendez-vous à des coupures et à quelques oursins si vous mettez un pied à terre. Le principal danger est le courant du chenal qui pousse le long du récif lors des grosses houles, plus le trafic maritime — Burgerworld est un spot populaire pour les charters et les resorts, donc le lineup et l'ancrage peuvent devenir chargés et chaotiques.
C'est une vague accessible uniquement en bateau dans la zone nord des Playgrounds au large de Siberut, accessible par bateau charter ou par un hors-bord depuis un resort ou un camp à proximité. Les bateaux s'ancrent dans le chenal sur l'épaule ; pagayez depuis là et asseyez-vous sur le peak, et utilisez ce même chenal pour sortir afin de ne pas rayer le récif. Chronométrez vos sessions autour de la marée mi-haute pour une entrée et une sortie les plus faciles et les plus sûres.
Un shortboard de performance standard ou un groveler de step-up est idéal — c'est une droite douce et maniable, donc apportez quelque chose que vous pouvez manœuvrer et qui pagaye dans des petites vagues moins que parfaites. Lors des rares jours plus gros, un step-up légèrement plus long aide avec les murs plus longs, mais vous n'avez pas besoin de guns ici ; gardez-les pour les récifs tubulaires à proximité.

This remote archipelago of more than 70 islands sits off the west coast of Sumatra, fully exposed to raw Indian Ocean swell, and it has earned its reputation as one of the most concentrated, high-quality wave zones on Earth.
✈️Getting there
All routes run through Padang, the port city in West Sumatra. Fly into Padang's Minangkabau International Airport (PDG), usually via Jakarta, or via Kuala Lumpur or Singapore on regional carriers.
🛵Getting around
The Mentawai are about boats, not roads. Once you arrive, your daily transport to the waves is by boat — either the liveaboard itself or the resort's tenders and speedboats running surfers out to the breaks.

The Mentawai are equatorial, hot and humid year-round, with water warm enough for boardshorts or a thin top (roughly 27–29°C). There's no real winter — just wetter and drier patterns.
