About Are Guling Right
Are Guling Right est le pendant droit au même spot, donnant à l'endroit une personnalité duale qui rend le lineup intéressant. Le droitier a tendance à être légèrement plus clément que le gauche, avec des murs plus longs qui sont idéaux pour le surf frontside et pour travailler sur sa progression. Les intermédiaires apprécieront la forme constante et le fait que la foule est rarement dense aussi loin de Bali. Un excellent spot pour passer du temps de qualité dans l'eau.
Local knowledge
Le récif est peu profond et tranchant à marée basse — les chutes peuvent entraîner de sérieuses lacérations, et des oursins se cachent dans les crevasses, donc des chaussons sont à considérer. Un courant modéré longe le break et peut vous éloigner de la sortie si vous ne faites pas attention. Le trafic maritime des bateaux de pêche et des bateaux touristiques occasionnels nécessite une vigilance lors de la sortie.
Are Guling se trouve le long de la côte sud-ouest de Lombok près de la baie de Belongas — prenez la route côtière au sud de Praya en direction de Belongas et cherchez le chemin qui descend vers la plage près du village de pêcheurs local. Garez-vous au warung près du sable et pagayez directement à travers le canal sur le côté gauche du break ; sortez de la même manière pour éviter d'être poussé sur la section intérieure du récif.
Un shortboard polyvalent (6'2"–6'6") ou un mid-length performant convient aux murs plus longs et exploitables ici. Lors des jours plus petits et plus faibles, un fish ou un hybride vous aidera à générer de la vitesse à travers les sections plus plates ; apportez un step-up si une houle solide arrive et que la vague commence à se creuser plus fort au large du récif.

Surfing in Lombok
Full Lombok surf guide →Lombok sits just east of Bali, separated by the deep Lombok Strait, and remains one of the most rewarding surf destinations in the Indonesian archipelago. It carries the spirit of an older Bali — quiet villages, jungle-clad hills, the towering Mount Rinjani volcano to the north, and a string of perfect bays and headlands along the south coast. The surf scene here is laid-back and adventure-driven rather than polished and packaged.
✈️Getting there
Fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), near Praya in the centre-south of the island — a short 30–45 minute drive from Kuta Lombok and the main surf zone. There are frequent domestic connections from Jakarta, Surabaya and especially Bali (Denpasar), plus some regional international links.
🛵Getting around
A scooter is the default way to explore Lombok's surf coast — cheap to rent in Kuta and ideal for the dirt tracks leading to Mawi, Are Guling and the quieter bays. Bring board racks or a strap, and ride cautiously: roads range from smooth tarmac to potholed dirt, and rural traffic can be unpredictable.

Lombok has a tropical climate with two clear seasons. The dry season (roughly April–October) is prime time: cleaner conditions, lighter or offshore mornings, and the most consistent south-coast groundswell. This is when nearly every spot — Mawi, Gerupuk, Seger, Are Guling and Desert Point — fires.
