About Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua, dans le sud-est de Bali, est connue pour ses complexes hôteliers de luxe et ses plages tranquilles... mais elle abrite également l'une des vagues les plus puissantes et les plus constantes de l'île. Le reef break de Nusa Dua est un spot de classe mondiale qui capte de gros swells du sud, offrant de longues sections rapides et puissantes. Étant plus abrité et orienté à l'est, il fonctionne mieux pendant la saison des pluies, lorsque de nombreux autres spots sont à terre. C'est idéal pour les surfeurs de niveau intermédiaire supérieur à avancé, car la vague est intense, se brise loin du rivage, et l'accès se fait par bateau.
Local knowledge
Un récif de corail vivant peu profond et tranchant se trouve bien loin du rivage, avec des courants sérieux qui se déplacent le long du récif et vous tirent du pic — il est facile d'être emporté le long de la ligne ou vers l'arrière lorsque le swell est fort. C'est un long chemin depuis la plage, donc une laisse cassée ou une planche brisée lors d'une grosse journée vous laisse dans une mauvaise situation ; les oursins sont courants dans les zones peu profondes au-dessus du récif intérieur.
Accès uniquement par bateau — organisez un outrigger ou un jukung depuis la plage près des complexes Nusa Dua/Geger, car c'est trop loin et trop affecté par le courant pour pagayer de manière fiable. Faites déposer par le batelier près du point de décollage et gardez-le à proximité ; l'entrée et la sortie se font depuis le bateau dans le chenal, pas depuis les rochers ou le sable.
Apportez votre shortboard standard pour les jours plus petits et percutants, mais passez à un semi-gun de 6'6" à 7'0" une fois que ça dépasse la tête et pousse — cette vague est rapide et puissante et vous aurez besoin de la vitesse de pagaie et de la puissance pour passer les sections. Sur un gros swell de saison est, un gun approprié n'est pas excessif.

✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
