About Kid's Point
Kid's Point está a la altura de su nombre como uno de los reef breaks más benignos de la zona, creado por la naturaleza para surfistas principiantes de todas las edades. Las olas aquí son pequeñas y suaves, rompiendo con la suficiente lentitud como para darle a quien aprende un ride reconfortante en cada intento. Su posición relativamente protegida mantiene las condiciones manejables incluso cuando los spots cercanos están revueltos. Es un excelente primer paso para cualquiera que se inicie en el surf de arrecife en Lombok.
Local knowledge
Aunque Kid's Point es uno de los reef breaks más benignos de Lombok, el arrecife sigue siendo coral vivo y puede ser cortante — una caída con marea baja puede provocar un raspón importante, por lo que vale la pena considerar el uso de escarpines de arrecife para principiantes. Presta atención a los rips que ocasionalmente se forman a lo largo del borde del canal cuando sube el swell, y mantente alerta al tráfico de barcos y bangkas que pasan cerca del break.
Kid's Point se encuentra cerca de la playa principal de surf en la costa suroeste de Lombok — estaciona junto a la carretera cerca de los warungs del paseo marítimo y rema por el canal de arena, cuya entrada y salida son sencillas incluso para los que surfean por primera vez. La ola es fácil de alcanzar con un corto paddling; regresa a la orilla por el mismo canal en lugar de intentar salir directamente sobre la plataforma del arrecife.
Un longboard o un mini-mal ancho y grueso (8–9 pies) es la elección ideal aquí — el volumen extra mantiene a flote a los principiantes en las paredes pequeñas y suaves, y facilita mucho el remo para entrar en olas más lentas y blandas. En el día excepcional en que el mar aumente de tamaño, un funboard lo maneja perfectamente; deja tu shortboard de rendimiento en casa.

Surfing in Lombok
Full Lombok surf guide →Lombok sits just east of Bali, separated by the deep Lombok Strait, and remains one of the most rewarding surf destinations in the Indonesian archipelago. It carries the spirit of an older Bali — quiet villages, jungle-clad hills, the towering Mount Rinjani volcano to the north, and a string of perfect bays and headlands along the south coast. The surf scene here is laid-back and adventure-driven rather than polished and packaged.
✈️Getting there
Fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), near Praya in the centre-south of the island — a short 30–45 minute drive from Kuta Lombok and the main surf zone. There are frequent domestic connections from Jakarta, Surabaya and especially Bali (Denpasar), plus some regional international links.
🛵Getting around
A scooter is the default way to explore Lombok's surf coast — cheap to rent in Kuta and ideal for the dirt tracks leading to Mawi, Are Guling and the quieter bays. Bring board racks or a strap, and ride cautiously: roads range from smooth tarmac to potholed dirt, and rural traffic can be unpredictable.

Lombok has a tropical climate with two clear seasons. The dry season (roughly April–October) is prime time: cleaner conditions, lighter or offshore mornings, and the most consistent south-coast groundswell. This is when nearly every spot — Mawi, Gerupuk, Seger, Are Guling and Desert Point — fires.
