About Canggu / Batu Bolong
O Batu Bolong de Canggu é um reef break animado que se tornou um dos spots de surf mais populares de Bali, oferecendo ondas consistentes e acessíveis que introduzem os iniciantes ao surf em reef-break. A onda quebra como uma direita suave que proporciona aos surfistas uma introdução gentil à leitura dos picos de reef e a rides mais longas do que as quebras de praia puras mais ao sul. Pode ficar lotado, especialmente em bons swells, então os iniciantes devem estar cientes do direito de passagem e escolher cantos menos movimentados da quebra. A vibrante cena de cafés e beach clubs torna o tempo entre as sessões um prazer.

Apesar de sua reputação amigável para iniciantes, Batu Bolong está sobre um recife de coral vivo que se torna perigosamente raso na maré baixa — queimaduras de recife e cortes de coral são os ferimentos mais comuns, então o uso de booties e uma rashguard é fortemente recomendado. Correntes laterais fortes se desenvolvem em swells maiores, e o pico fica extremamente lotado com uma mistura caótica de iniciantes, alunos de escolas de surf e intermediários, tornando a colisão o maior risco real aqui. Cuidado com pranchas soltas voando de volta para o interior — o uso de capacete não é incomum para os aprendizes.
Batu Bolong é fácil de encontrar: siga para a Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong em Canggu e estacione ao longo da estrada ou em um dos pequenos estacionamentos pagos perto da faixa de warungs que flanqueia o templo da praia (Pura Batu Bolong). Remada para fora pelo canal logo ao norte do templo — isso proporciona uma entrada e saída limpa longe do recife, e é a rota padrão usada pelas escolas de surf. Saia pelo mesmo caminho, observando a água drenando pelo recife no interior.
Um longboard ou um mid-length de alto volume (8–9 pés) é ideal para pegar as direitas suaves e rolantes, dando aos iniciantes a estabilidade para encontrar seus pés. Em um swell maior raro (acima da cabeça), uma fun shape de 7–7'6" ou minimal permite controlar a velocidade e ficar seguro sobre as seções mais rasas do recife.

✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
