About Echo Beach
Echo Beach est un reef break animé sur la côte de Canggu à Bali, surtout connu pour ses gauches puissantes qui se déroulent sur un récif peu profond. Il fonctionne bien avec des houles moyennes à overhead, offrant des sections creuses qui récompensent les surfeurs capables de lire le pic rapidement. L'atmosphère est énergique, avec une bande animée de cafés et de warungs juste sur la plage. Les intermédiaires trouveront beaucoup à exploiter, bien que le récif peu profond exige du respect à marée basse.
Local knowledge
Le récif est peu profond et tranchant — les chutes à marée basse peuvent entraîner de sérieuses éraflures ou lacérations, et des oursins se cachent dans les fissures, donc des chaussons valent la peine d'être envisagés. Un courant persistant longe le récif qui peut surprendre les intermédiaires, en particulier lors de plus grosses houles. Le trafic de bateaux et de jet-skis autour du lineup est une réelle préoccupation ; restez vigilant pendant les sessions chargées.
Echo Beach est facile à trouver depuis Jalan Pantai Batu Mejan à Canggu — un parking payant est disponible en bord de route et à plusieurs warungs juste derrière la plage. Marchez tout droit à travers la bande de cafés jusqu'au sable ; pagayez depuis l'entrée principale de la plage et dirigez-vous vers le nord en direction du pic, en chronométrant soigneusement votre pagaie à travers la section intérieure lors de plus grosses houles. Sortez de nouveau sur la plage — évitez d'essayer de grimper sur le récif.
Un shortboard polyvalent dans la gamme de 6'0" à 6'4" avec un peu de volume supplémentaire gère bien les gauches puissantes et creuses lors des journées standard moyennes à overhead. Passez à un shortboard de performance de 6'6" ou plus lorsque les vagues sont solides overhead et que le récif commence à montrer ses dents à marée basse.

✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
