About Medewi Beach
Medewi Beach ist einer der besonderen Surfspots auf Bali aus einem klaren Grund: Er hat die längste linke Welle der Insel. Dieses friedliche Küstendorf, das an Balis Westküste liegt, bietet ein entspanntes Leben, sanfte Wellen und eine ideale Atmosphäre für Surfer, die ihre Technik verbessern möchten, ohne den Druck der Menschenmengen in Canggu oder Bukit. Es ist eine freundliche, fließende Welle, die Carving und lange, bearbeitbare Abschnitte ermöglicht. Die lokale Gemeinschaft ist einladend und die Umgebung ist rein: Reisfelder, Palmen, Fischer und Surfen… nicht mehr. Es ist perfekt für Longboarder, Fortgeschrittene und Surfer, die sich weiterentwickeln möchten.
Local knowledge
Die Hauptgefahr ist der Grund: Medewis Point ist ein Kieselstein-/Rundstein-Riff und kein Sand, sodass die Takeoff-Zone und das Innere rutschig und knöchelverdrehend sind — Booties sind sinnvoll, und auf die Felsen bei Niedrigwasser gespült zu werden, ist der häufigste Weg, wie sich hier Leute verletzen. Es ist eine sanfte Welle, aber die Strömung entlang des Points zieht dich die Linie hinunter und hinaus, also übertreibe es nicht, wenn du müde bist. Es gibt auch Seeigel und gelegentlich scharfe Kanten zwischen den Felsen, und die Flussmündung in der Nähe kann nach Regen Trümmer und trübes Wasser mit sich führen.
Parke in der Nähe der Warungs und Homestays am oberen Ende des Points — es gibt einen kleinen Parkplatz und Parkplätze am Straßenrand sowie viele günstige Speisen und Kaffee mit Blick auf die Lineup. Vom Strand aus geh den Point über die Felsen hoch (achte auf deinen Schritt) und wähle deinen Weg vom Kieselsteinregal aus, oder paddle von der Flussmündungsseite aus hinaus und lass dich von der Strömung zum Peak bringen. Verlasse den Spot auf demselben Weg über die Felsen, idealerweise zwischen den Sets und nicht bei absolutem Niedrigwasser.
Dies ist eine sanfte, lange, peeling linke Welle, die für Paddle-Power und Trim gemacht ist — ein Longboard oder Mid-Length ist ideal, um die langen Abschnitte auszukosten, und ein Fish oder Grovel Board funktioniert an den kleineren, schwächeren Tagen. Bei einem größeren, saubereren Swell lässt ein hochvolumiger Shortboard oder Fun-Shape dich die offenen Wellenflächen carven, aber du brauchst hier selten etwas Größeres als dein Alltagsboard.

✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
