About Echo Beach
Echo Beach ist ein lebhafter Reef Break an der Küste von Canggu auf Bali, bekannt für seine kraftvollen Linkswellen, die über ein flaches Riff brechen. Es funktioniert gut bei mittleren bis overhead Swells und bietet hohle Abschnitte, die Surfer belohnen, die den Peak schnell lesen können. Die Atmosphäre ist energetisch, mit einer pulsierenden Reihe von Cafés und Warungs direkt am Strand. Fortgeschrittene Surfer finden hier viel zu tun, obwohl das flache Riff bei niedrigem Wasser Respekt verlangt.
Local knowledge
Das Riff ist flach und scharf — Stürze bei Niedrigwasser können ernsthafte Riffwunden oder Schnittverletzungen bedeuten, und Seeigel lauern in den Ritzen, daher sind Neoprenschuhe zu empfehlen. Ein hartnäckiger Rip zieht entlang des Riffs, der Fortgeschrittene überraschen kann, besonders bei größeren Swells. Boots- und Jetski-Verkehr rund um die Lineup ist ein echtes Problem; bleib während der geschäftigen Sessions aufmerksam.
Echo Beach ist leicht zu finden, wenn man von Jalan Pantai Batu Mejan in Canggu kommt — kostenpflichtige Parkplätze sind am Straßenrand und an mehreren Warungs direkt hinter dem Strand verfügbar. Gehe gerade durch die Café-Reihe bis zum Sand; paddel vom Haupteingang am Strand aus und halte dich nach Norden in Richtung Peak, indem du dein Paddeln durch den inneren Abschnitt bei größeren Swells sorgfältig timst. Gehe wieder zurück zum Strand — vermeide es, auf das Riff zu klettern.
Ein vielseitiges Shortboard im Bereich von 6'0"–6'4" mit etwas zusätzlichem Volumen bewältigt die kraftvollen, hohlen Linkswellen gut an normalen Tagen mit mittlerem bis overhead Swell. Steige auf ein 6'6"+ Performance-Shortboard um, wenn es solid overhead ist und das Riff bei Niedrigwasser seine Zähne zeigt.

✈️Getting there
Bali is the simplest surf destination in Indonesia to reach. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar handles direct flights from across Asia and Australia, plus connections worldwide via Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha and beyond. From Australia it's a short hop from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
🛵Getting around
The default surfer transport is a scooter (110–150cc). It's cheap, easy to rent daily or monthly, and lets you slip down narrow Bukit lanes and beat the traffic. Bring or rent a board rack/strap. Wear a helmet, ride sober, and know that traffic is chaotic and Bali's road-accident rate is high — many travellers come unstuck here.

Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October — sunny, lower humidity, and the prime surf window for the south and west coasts, with consistent groundswell and clean morning offshore winds. This is peak season; expect crowds and book ahead.
